FWA Training:  Interacting
Previous Next

If your off-site location is also your home, it may be shared by others who will need to know what your "working at home" means.  Talk to others who share the area where you'll be working, be they family members or roommates, and agree on some ground rules of what you and they can and cannot do on your work days.  Here are some examples:

On remote work days:

I will be able to: accept packages for others in the household.

I won't be able to: mow the lawn and make the beds.

I may rarely use my break time to do brief, important errands – but not as a rule.

Others in the household will be able to: do things in other parts of the house or apartment where I won't impact them and vice versa.

Others in the household won't be able to: play loud music/have guests while I'm working.

Remember, remote work is not a substitute for dependent care.
If you have young children or elders at home who require care,
make sure you have someone other than you providing that care.
