An important tool for keeping your team intact is the conference call. It allows the entire team to meet even if some members are traveling or working remotely. Here are some tips to make these calls effective:


Send out a structured agenda in advance of the call confirming the time and call-in number.


Stick to the time and to the agenda.


Send visuals out in advance.


Have a good speaker phone available in the room where people will be meeting in person.


Encourage full participation by asking for input: “Sarah, what do you think?”


Have someone chair the meeting. Consider rotating this role.


Ask people to introduce themselves before speaking.


Remote workers should make sure that things are quiet on their end of the phone.
